SUB Ride with Sarah Ulmer – Find Your Reason
Your chance to ride alongside an Olympic and World Champion cyclist is at SUB Ride with Sarah Ulmer on Sunday 23 April 2006, in Clevedon.
SUB Ride is Sarah Ulmer's very own cycling event and is the relaunch of her successful Bike Day Out event that has been held around the scenic back roads of Clevedon for the last two years and for the first time at Lake Karapiro in November 2005.
With distances for women of 16km, 35km, or 65km there’s something for every cyclist from complete beginner to the more advanced. Kids aged 10 years and above have the option of an 8km or 16km road loop, with a continual loop on the grass for kids aged 5-9 years where they can go around as many times as they like.
SUB Ride is all about trying to encourage more women to get out and get active. Sarah enjoys seeing women and children use cycling as a satisfying way to keep fit. “Exercise is an important part of healthy living – and obviously cycling is my favourite form of exercise! I love getting people out on bikes and SUB Ride is the perfect chance to do just that”, says Sarah.
“Taking part is so much more than your on-the-day experience – it’s also about how you get there. It’s about adopting an active lifestyle, training for the event with your friends and family, boosting your confidence with a sense of achievement after you’ve completed your ride, and most importantly having fun along the way. Find a Reason why you can and not an excuse why you can’t,” says Sarah.
SUB Ride has a fun atmosphere with loads to do on the day for the whole family.
Entry forms are available now from McDonald’s restaurants and most good bike stores around Auckland and the Central North Island. Women’s Rides are $45 and kids’ rides are $15. Women’s race packs will include a SUB Wear beach towel and kids’ will receive a SUB Ride t-shirt.
Entry forms can also be downloaded from www.sarahulmerbrand.com. The site also features tips from Sarah, including training programmes, safety considerations, nutrition, clothing and an on the day checklist.
Participating children must be five years or older on race day, with a parent/caregiver at start and finish lines, and all cyclists must wear a standards approved helmet and appropriate footwear.
Entries are strictly limited due to course congestion. Please enter early to avoid disappointment, as entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
The event is run in conjunction with McDonald’s, SUB, Fairfax New Zealand and More FM, with the assistance of the New Zealand Police.
