Rain for some only
The weather this week will follow a different theme to last week with several weather systems jostling for centre stage.
MetService Media and Communication Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"This week will be much greyer and wetter for
many of us, but some places can expect decent dry weather."
A slow moving, sub-tropical low across the northeast of the North Island, will keep eastern areas in the cloud and rain
through midweek. The damp and grey weather in Wellington for the Royal visitors will slowly brighten by midweek, but
return for their visit to Marlborough later in the week. Further south, a front will bring some wet weather across the
northern parts of the South Island.
As we head towards the second half of the week, the wet weather across central New Zealand will shift slowly to northern
parts of the country. However, the rain is likely to be patchy at this stage, and is not expected to bring much relief
to the dry pastures from western Northland to Taihape.
The southern half of the South Island will stay mostly dry over the next several days as an anticyclone stretches across
this part of the country.
