Summer weather continues but one fly in the ointment
Summer weather will continue over the coming week, with one unsettled blip around midweek as a low moves in to bring a
spell of rain to much of the country
MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented "The typical summer pattern continues with
some good sized slow moving highs. However, sandwiched in between these highs will be an area of low pressure that will
bring wet weather to many parts around the middle of the week."
The weekend high will slowly depart to the east by the end ofMonday,opening the door for the weather system from the
South Tasman Sea to spread wet weather up the west coast of the South Island by the end of Tuesday,and across many other
places during Wednesday and Thursday. The best of the weather for Waitangi day will be in the south of the country as
rain retreats northwards during the day.
This passing weather system could be quite active for a time, bringing some brief heavy bursts of rain together with the
risk of scattered thunderstorms especially along the west coast.
This weather system should become confined to the far north by the coming weekend allowing drier and more settled
weather to return, just in time for the HSBC Rugby Sevens taking place in Wellington.
