Finally more like Summer
The weather this week is expected to have more of a summery feel as a large and slow moving anticyclone drifts across
the country.
MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"Unlike previous weeks, this anticyclone
appears set to come on and stick around, with more fine and settled weather in the offing over the country."
The anticyclone will settle across the country right on the heels of the weekend rainmaker that is already sliding
smartly off to the east.
The weather should also play ball for the Blackcaps One Day International in Hamilton on Tuesday.
This anticyclone is also likely to weaken the next front and reduce it to just a band of cloud as it moves toward the
far north of the country later in the week.
Meanwhile, the tropics will stay active this coming week with a moderate to high potential for cyclone development in
the Coral Sea. At the same time,a separate tropical feature is likely to pass close to the Kermadec Islands, but stay
away to the northeast of New Zealand. It is expected to bring a prolonged spell of easterly swells from Gisborne to
Wairarapa.
