Hamish Fagg to be first Kiwi in Space
LYNX has chosen one lucky Kiwi to go where only an elite few in the world have gone before; sub-orbital space. 21-year-old Hamish Fagg has just returned from the LYNX Space Academy Camp in Orlando, Florida where he was selected from two Kiwi finalists to take the mission of a lifetime in 2014.
The two Kiwi recruits were put through a rigorous training programme that included being submitted to g-forces, physical challenges and aptitude tests.
They competed alongside participants from other countries to win a seat on the XCOR Aerospace’s Lynx suborbital reusable launch vehicle, in a promotion endorsed by Buzz Aldrin, world famous astronaut and one of the first ever to walk on the moon.
“Space travel is the next frontier in the human experience for most of the world’s population,” says Buzz Aldrin, legendary astronaut, global space spokesman and pilot of the historic Apollo 11 spacecraft that landed on the moon in 1969. “I‘ve been there, which is why it’s exciting for me that LYNX is giving the young people of today such an extraordinary opportunity to experience some of what I’ve encountered in space.”
There’s still no bigger modern day hero than an astronaut and because of this, LYNX wanted to give fans a chance to become one when launching new fragrance LYNX Apollo. In one of the biggest product launches in its 30-year history, LYNX asked guys and girls around the globe to sign up for the L.S.A. for the opportunity of a lifetime.
