A quieter spell of weather this week
This week's weather will be a lot quieter and more settled than previous weeks, thanks to a large lingering anticyclone
that will build across the country midweek.
MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"It will be a quiet week of weather in most
places, but there will still be some cloud about and even a bit of wet weather here and there."
A weakening front sliding up the east coast of the country during Monday and Tuesday will bring a fair bit of cloud and
a few showers from Otago to as far north as Gisborne. Elsewhere, there could be some cloud and the odd shower at times.
The large anticyclone will gradually build across the country from the southwest during Tuesday and into Wednesday. This
will bring mostly fine and dry days through the second half of the week, but as with every high there is bound to be
some patchy cloud around at times near coastlines.
The weather for the Canterbury AandP show later this week should be mostly dry, with the north-easterly bringing perhaps
just some morning and evening cloud.
At this point it looks like the mostly dry and settled weather will hang on into the weekend, when a new weather system
brings some wet weather to the southwest.
