A quieter spell but still some rain about
The very active low that brought severe weather to parts of New Zealand at the start of the week has now moved well off
to the east. For most of the country, the weather over the next few days is expected to be settled.
MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"There are some places where unsettled
weather is expected over the next few days. On Wednesday and Thursday the north of the North Island should see thundery
rain at times, while the odd shower is expected over the southwest of the South Island."
"The air over the country is currently quite cold, so over the next several nights good frosts are expected in many
parts of the South Island and in central and southern areas of the North Island," Corbett went on to say.
Around Friday, a cold front is expected to bring a spell of rain followed by a cooler southerly to the South Island.
After that, the weekend looks settled.
