Mostly dry and settled this week
A large anticyclone, currently building across New Zealand, will keep the weather mostly dry and settled for this week.
MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented "This is another fairly large anticyclone
that will become slow moving over New Zealand bringing a long, mostly dry, and settled spell of summer weather."
Even with a large high in place, there will still be morning and evening cloud in some places, and perhaps an isolated
shower in a few coastal areas.
A weak front will slide up over the country toward the end of the week, but rainfall amounts are likely to be modest.
Afternoon highs in some inland places, away from the moderating effect of the sea breeze, could also climb up into the
low 30s over the next several days.
Another large high will then build across the country over the weekend keeping the settled weather in place into the new
week. This high may remain in place to the end of the month.
