A bit more unsettled this week
The next anticyclone appears reluctant to come on to the country so the week, weather-wise is likely to be a bit messy
as a couple of active troughs move across New Zealand.
Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented "The passing troughs will make it a slightly more
unsettled week with some rain at times, especially over southern and western parts of the South Island as a broad
southwesterly flow takes hold."
The first active trough will slide east of New Zealand during Tuesday causing it to weaken as it moves over the North
Island.
A second active feature will move into the far south of the South Island late Tuesday bringing showers and some cooler
air.
A period of showers should affect other parts of New Zealand by midweek but rainfall amounts are likely to very small
over northern and eastern parts of the North Island.
In the cooler air, the afternoon temperatures will only reach the mid to upper teens, especially over the west and far
south of the South Island.
