Unsettled in the North but drier for the South
According to MetService, the North Island can expect to see more unsettled weather this week, with a drier outlook for most South Island places.
"Overall, it's a reasonably unsettled week for the North Island," commented Media and Communication Meteorologist Daniel Corbett. "For the next couple of days, a low brings showers or rain to many North Island places. However, a drier spell is expected in most areas on Wednesday. This will hopefully enable good viewing of the partial solar eclipse on Wednesday morning."
"For most of the South Island, however, it's quite a different story," Corbett went on to say. "Long spells of fine, or at least dry, weather - and cool nights - are expected in many South Island places through to about Friday. The exceptions are Canterbury and Marlborough today and early tomorrow, and the West Coast on Wednesday and Friday."
