A mostly fine and settled week
According to MetService, the upcoming week will be mostly fine and settled as a large high slides slowly across New Zealand.
Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented, "There will be some decent fine and dry weather this week, but there could be some showers about at times too."
The remnants of a weak trough sliding up the east coast will bring the risk of a few showers around the northern and eastern coasts of both islands on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the first half of the week, nights will be on the cool side with the risk for some frosts in sheltered inland places.
Afternoon heating and converging winds will also help give rise to a few inland afternoon and evening showers later in the week, some of which could be thundery. Temperatures will slowly warm throughout the week, reaching the 20's in places by the weekend.
