A break in the Spring westerlies
The Spring westerlies that have been such a notable feature over the past several weeks are taking a short break, according to MetService. For the next few days, the weather should be reasonably quiet and settled.
Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented, "Aside from northern New Zealand today and the West Coast of the South Island later in the week, decent fine and dry spells should make it a much better week overall for outdoor plans."
A weak high will build slowly across much of New Zealand through the first half of the week, helping to bring quieter weather to many places.
"In western areas it should feel a bit warmer, with less wind and cloud compared to the past couple of weeks," said Corbett.
