Endorsement of NIWA’s science welcome
In determining a Judicial Review challenging the accuracy of NIWA’s climate data and scientific methodology, High Court Judge Justice Venning was unequivocal in his findings, reinforcing NIWA’s professionalism and credibility in this important area.
In his findings, Justice Venning was satisfied that “NIWA applied credible scientific methodology and as such did not breach any obligation it may have to pursue excellence”.
He was also satisfied that NIWA “did apply tenable scientific methodology to the review process”, and “that the methodology applied by NIWA was in accordance with internationally recognised and credible scientific methodology”.
NIWA Chairman, Chris Mace, said, “High Court Judge Justice Venning’s ruling is a comprehensive reinforcement of the professionalism and credibility of NIWA’s science and scientists.”
