8 September 2008 - The new 'HD movie mode', as featured for the first time in the T500 Cyber-shot digital camera, is a
welcome addition to Sony's growing list of High Definition compatible cameras.
Capturing up to 10 minutes of High Definition quality video in 1280 x 720 resolution at 30fps, the T500 is part of the
same Cyber-shot T-series that has successfully merged a robust and ultra-slim profile without compromising Sony's
reputation for versatile and creative digital imaging.
'For consumers who really want a camera that can go anywhere and has a powerful video function, the T500 is hard to go
past,' says Sam Williams, Marketing Manager for Digital Imaging Products at Sony New Zealand. 'The HD movies this small
camera can capture are not only amazing to look at, they are matched with powerful image management software that will
transfer HD video simply across to a PC ready to forward on to friends via email or by upload to video-sharing
websites.'
In addition to the new HD video technologies inside the T500, Sony has also included its latest still imaging
stabilisation technologies including Double Anti-blur with Optical SteadyShot, High Sensitivity and Face Detection to
ensure that still images can be captured at the highest possible quality. Thanks to innovative product development these
shots can also be captured at the same time the photographer is shooting their HD video - just by the simple touch of a
convenient button placed at the top of the camera.
Rounding out the expanded capabilities of the new T500 are the 10.1 effective megapixels of detail, superior Carl Zeiss
lens with new ring-type Zoom button for easy adjustment throughout its 5x range, and an extra-large wide 3.5-inch touch
screen LCD.
'As well as giving a beautiful view of your images, the touch screen really makes operation of this camera very simple,'
says Mr. Williams. 'Touching anywhere on the screen while composing a shot locks the camera's focus onto that part of
the scene while touching a face inside the frame will switch on the Face Detection function to ensure the face is
captured in sharp focus with perfect exposure. That saves wasting time with retaking shots.'
Finally, for photographers who enjoy viewing their images on larger screens, the T500 will connect readily to HD Ready
televisions via HDMI and has Sony's BRAVIA Sync function which allows on-screen control of the camera's playback
functions with the TV's remote control.
