Surfboard Mounted Touchscreen Computer Makes Waves
Sydney, 20th August 2008 - AvanTEC have today announced the availability of an Australian designed surfboard style vehicle mount, which allows a touch screen computer to be temporarily installed and operated in a vehicle.
Designed for businesses with vehicle based employees, the surfboard style vehicle mount is a patented Australian design. The surfboard mount allows a rugged General Dynamics Duo-Touch II tablet computer to be securely anchored in a vehicle passenger seat, providing a safe working environment for employees that need to access a computer while in their vehicle. The surfboard mount includes a tilt and swivel mechanism for the computer, in addition to a hard flat workspace surface.
The Duo-Touch II is a military grade rugged touchscreen computer, incorporating an Intel Core Duo U2500 1.2Ghz processor running Windows Vista, and a unique DynaVue colour touch screen which is readable in direct sunlight.
Advanced wireless communications options are available for the Duo-Touch II, including GPS, 3G broadband Internet, Bluetooth and Wireless LAN. The rugged tablet computer is water and dust resistant, meets military standards for vibration resistance, and is able to safely operate in 60C heat.
The surfboard mount takes advantage of standard seat belt configurations, and simply slides into place on top of the car front seat cushions. No vehicle modifications are needed to install the surfboard mount, and installation can be achieved in under a minute. The tablet can be easily removed from the surfboard via a special quick release mechanism, making the solution practical for situations where computer access is also needed outside the vehicle.
Dave Cawsey, General Manager for AvanTEC said "Many businesses have employees that spend a large part of their work day driving. The surfboard mount combined with the Duo-Touch II is a simple, easy to install way to improve the productivity of your employees when they are out of the office.”
Availability
The Duo-Touch II has a suggested retail price of $5,275 AUD inc GST, and $5875 NZ excluding tax.
The surfboard vehicle mount starts from $355 AUD inc GST, and $395 NZ excluding tax.
