Offset The Rest Named In Top 30 Carbon Offset Providers Worldwide
New Zealand company Offset the Rest is the only company in Asia Pacific to be named as one of the top 30 carbon offset providers in the world.
In the Guide to Carbon Offsets, published by UK company Environmental Data Services (ENDS), Offset the Rest were also highlighted as being one of only three companies worldwide to offer exceptional service through their commitment to selling the highest quality carbon credits.
ENDS is a leading source of information in the UK and Europe on the environment, sustainability and climate change.
The ENDS Guide is an independent assessment of the voluntary carbon market that has been published to help organisations engage in carbon offsetting in a credible way. The Guide is based on extensive research and a survey of over 170 offset providers worldwide.
Offset the Rest is a Nelson based company, founded in 2007. Its purpose is to provide individuals and businesses with assistance to measure emissions, implement emission reduction initiatives, and to provide carbon offsets for any unavoidable emissions.
As a provider of purely CDM Gold Standard credits from renewable energy sources, the company was also rated highly by ENDS for being transparent about the source of its offsets, the standards used and the role of offsetting in its strategy.
Company Directors, Jane Peterson and Melissa Munro gave careful consideration to the type of projects they wanted the company to invest in. They state ``Given the complexity of the carbon credit market, it was important to us that Offset the Rest invested in renewable energy projects that are independently certified by a world renowned organisation. Our credits support real time emission reductions, therefore promoting a shift from an economy based on excessive fossil fuel consumption to one based on renewable energy. Demand for our services from the business sector has been significant, and we expect individual demand to increase over the next year as New Zealanders become committed to carbon footprint reduction.’’
