Fine Weather for Most on Waitangi Day
The forecast for Waitangi Day is for mostly fine weather. However, MetService meteorologists expect strong southeast winds and a few showers for northeastern parts of the country.
"Any wet areas around the country initially should clear away for Waitangi Day", commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt. "Cyclone GENE is moving southeastwards out of the tropics and forecast to move past the Kermadec Islands between New Zealand and Tonga on Waitangi Day."
Mr. McDavitt added that the outlook for the coming weekend is for a trough to bring some rain especially to central parts of the country. "For most of us, Wednesday is looking to be a much better day for a picnic than Saturday."
