Planes, Trains and Doodlebops Keep New Zealanders Searching
Google Announces Top 20 Gaining Queries for May
Last month saw a well-rounded mix of search terms gaining ground on the Google Zeitgeist for New Zealand.
The second biennial Auckland Art Fair on May 18 – 20 was twice as big as the first one in 2005, and had anyone and everyone who fancies themselves an art buff searching for auckland art gallery.
On a different type of art, are we going crazy for our anime?  It seems we're all very interested to know more about anime character gaara, but despite this, old favourites die hard, with yoda making a surprise appearance on this month's list.
As for the kids, they got excited about the new series of the Doodlebops, which hit TV screens at the start of the month. Perhaps all the TV time made Mum and Dad nostalgic for the old days when nursery rhymes were enough to keep the littlies entertained. And what about Grandma and Grandpa?  Well, we can't be sure, but maybe they were dreaming of spending the kids' inheritance on a once in a lifetime trip to Greece. How are they going to get there? Hopefully not by [rowing] or they'll aggravate the arthritis!
It wasn't all about holidays and airplanes though. Trains were the transport of choice in wairarapa where the big local news for the month was new carriages and station improvements. Check out the tranz metro for more about trains.
Speaking of public transport, it's good to know we're keeping pace with mounting international concern for the state of the planet with deforestation and air pollution coming in as the big environmental concerns for the month.
On the celebrity front, the women beat the men with popstar christina milian and local fashionista trelise cooper beating footballer Cristiano Ronaldo fair and square in terms of search popularity.
Whilst thinking about the future, a few education-conscious New Zealanders pondered their next move for scholarly discipline with rangitoto college and university of waikato both popular choices.
For breaking news and obscure information alike, people around the world search on Google. What follows is a summary of Google Zeitgeist results for the top gainers on Google.co.nz in the month of May.
