EMS-Cortex announces key features for Service Providers delivering applications via Citrix
19-Dec-06, Auckland – EMS-Cortex announces improved service for Service Providers delivering applications via Citrix
Enhanced Citrix support in Cortex
EMS-Cortex has announced further support for managing Citrix delivered applications. Cortex now integrates directly with Citrix Presentation Server to manage any published application with minimal effort. Citrix combined with Cortex enables service providers to easily manage delivery of applications to end-customers.
The advanced integration with Citrix Presentation Server incorporates real time retrieval of Citrix published applications and a flexible security model which can utilise existing or Cortex generated security groups.
New service provider features include an ability to manage applications across multiple Citrix farms. The new application group feature allows application bundles to be created and assigned to customers or resellers. Applications can be defaulted for selection on an organisation or user level. Advanced resource management controls access to other Citrix resources such as printers and scanners.
Improved delegated administration support now allows for easy provisioning of applications or application bundles to users or groups of users. Reseller and customer administrators will benefit from additional flexibility for creating custom user groups and ability to set and override default settings. Dedicated applications can be flagged as private and are then hidden from all other customers.
“The flexibility of the solution caters for unique customer situations; for example, a service provider can host a number of customers who utilise a common Microsoft office package as well as customers with their own unique applications, such as a dedicated ERP system. Cortex allows this type of business to really scale by reducing support costs and allowing technical staff to focus on real issues rather than everyday user configuration.”, says Colin Williams, Cortex development manager.
Support portal launch
EMS-Cortex is launching a new support site based on Sharepoint services technology. This will incorporate the existing support system along with discussion groups, a knowledge base and other information supporting the Cortex product. The Cortex support site is itself provisioned and managed by an internal Cortex instance.
