MEDIA RELEASE 18 December
Nintendo’s NZ fans should not be affected by the Wii™–motes
New Zealanders who have purchased the new Nintendo Wii™ game console can be reassured that they will be largely unaffected by the issues with Wii™ straps as have been reported in the USA.
A number of reports have immerged from the States reporting a range of self inflicted injuries as they play Wii™
However, New Zealanders shouldn’t face the same problems due to an update on the strap since its launch in the States on 19th November.
“The New Zealand stock was shipped with a newer strap which has alleviated most of the issues now currently affecting the US customers. The newer strap has been issued with the three products containing the Wii™ remote here in NZ,” says Aaron Mikaere Brand Manager, Softprint Interactive, referring to the Wii™ Console/Sports Bundle, the Wii™ Play and the Wii™ Remote products.
“If customers do have concerns they are welcome to call us directly on (09) 476 2279.”
The Nintendo Wii™ was launched in NZ on 7th Dec and has been one of the hottest items for Christmas.
Wii™ has a unique control system, which is an inventive, first-of-its-kind controller whose position can be detected in a 3-D space. The new controller allows users to pinpoint targets in games or move through the Wii™ Channel Menu with precision and ease.
Players are warned at the start of each game to make sure there are no obstacles or people in their way.
