INDUSTRY REPORT POSITIONS SYMANTEC IN THE LEADER QUADRANT IN EMAIL SECURITY
Email Security Vendors Evaluated Based On Ability To Execute And Completeness Of Vision
Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. as a leader in the ‘Magic Quadrant for E-mail Security Boundary, 1H05’ report . In addition to spam filtering, the report focused on email connection management, value-added antivirus, email intrusion prevention and delivery models.
Symantec has recently been positioned in the leader quadrant in Gartner Magic Quadrant reports representing the following key markets: enterprise antivirus, managed security services, software distribution, network intrusion detection, email security, email active-archiving, application server management and enterprise back-up and recovery.
“We are very excited to be listed in the leader quadrant in Gartner’s email security magic quadrant report. We believe companies should be evaluating email security solutions that offer a broader range of capabilities,” said Richard Batchelar, enterprise security business development manager, Symantec New Zealand. “By offering customers industry-leading antispam, antivirus and traffic shaping technologies, Symantec’s email security solutions help organisations stay ahead of new threats and ensure compliance with content policies.”
With the completion of the merger of Symantec and VERITAS, Symantec now offers the leading comprehensive solution for email management, spanning spam filtering and antivirus protection to e-mail and content archiving. Organisations can choose from an array of software, hardware and hosted email security solutions including: Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam, Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange, Symantec Mail Security for Domino, Symantec Mail Security 8200 Series, Symantec Mail Security 8100 Series and Symantec Hosted Mail Security. Multiple deployment options enable integration into even the most complex email environments.
Symantec’s patented TCP traffic shaping technologies help reduce overall email volume before it hits customer networks. By reducing the email volume entering the network, email security solutions from Symantec lower infrastructure costs and help ensure email is available and secure at all times.
For many organisations, the growing spam problem is one of the most pressing issues faced today. Symantec’s email security solutions include Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam technology that leverages over 20 spam protection techniques, delivering antispam effectiveness rates of 95 percent and the industry’s highest accuracy rate (99.9999 percent) against false positives (legitimate email getting categorised as spam).
Symantec’s email security solutions are backed by Symantec Security Response. Part of the Symantec Global Services and Support organisation, Symantec Security Response experts work to protect enterprise businesses and consumers from the latest security threats. Symantec Security Response, a team of dedicated intrusion experts, security engineers, virus hunters and global technical support teams, provides customers with comprehensive, global, 24x7 internet security expertise to guard against today's complex internet threats.
