Weather Clearing for ANZAC Day
MetService meteorologists are forecasting a cold showery weekend for much of the country, but the showers should clear
for ANZAC day, even though they may linger through the ANZAC dawn between Wellington and Napier.
"Cold fronts are now returning after an extended period of dry weather especially over Northland, Auckland, Coromandel
and Waikato", commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt. "Another cold front is forecast to sweep across the
country on Saturday, followed by southerly winds cold enough to bring some snow to the ranges of the southern and
eastern South Island."
McDavitt added that some showers may linger between Wellington and Napier, but that, for the rest of New Zealand, ANZAC
dawn ceremonies are likely to have crisp clean clear skies with temperatures on the cool side. "It'll be frosty in the
south and near the mountains, and between 7 and 10 around the North Island coast. An extra layer of clothing will be the
first order of the day".
