Genesis Energy and Optimation enter technology agreement
Wellington, April 4 2005: Genesis Energy, a leading New Zealand generator and retailer, has entered into a contract with Optimation for the licensing, support and development of Optimation’s complex billing platform Equip.
Genesis Energy has previously replaced an in-house system and existing systems with the Equip platform. The agreement covers on-going support, and the commitment by Genesis Energy to purchase future Equip modules currently in development by Optimation.
“Evaluation by Genesis Energy shows Equip is a world class product,” says Vince Hawksworth, General Manager Retail for Genesis Energy. “That combined with a substantial local company like Optimation to provide on-going support and development is a winning combination for us.”
Stable architecture, innovative technology
Genesis Energy has been impressed by Equip’s stability and open systems-based architecture.
According to Genesis Energy IT Manager Russell Ambrose, “Equip is a well-proven, highly stable platform built on open, enterprise-strength technology standards. It is also a unique and very innovative piece of technology that allows us to do the things that we want to achieve in our business. That combination makes Equip an attractive strategic technology choice.”
“Equip makes it easy and quick to get to data and it is easy to integrate. It also has the potential to enable increased productivity, which is a very important business driver in the energy sector,” says Ambrose.
