Terabyte Wins Malaysian Aquarium Project
Auckland based Terabyte Interactive has just been awarded a contract to develop a number of interactive kiosks and other
multimedia components for the Kuala Lumpur Aquarium.
Aquaria KLCC is designed to be a highly interactive aquatic exhibition, focusing on both education and entertainment.
Located in the lower levels of the soon to be completed Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre the 60,000 ft2 aquarium is
expected to attract over 1.5 million annual visitors and is scheduled to open in Q2 2005.
Terabyte has been contracted to develop a kiosk engine platform and a number of productions that support Aquaria’s Main
Journey and its various interactive Discovery Zones. The Main Journey features over 5,000 animals from 150 different
species. Kiosks will allow visitors to get a more intimate view of the various animals on display with in-depth
biological and environmental information, video and images providing an engaging and informative educational experience.
Throughout the Aquarium various Discovery Zones allow visitors to explore other aspects of marine life and ecology that
may not be able to be featured in the Aquarium’s tanks. Terabyte will develop a number of Encounters that explore the
fascinating worlds of whales and dolphins, deep sea creatures such as the giant squid and many of the weird and
wonderful creatures found in the deepest parts of the ocean.

improve to ensure Aquaria is not only a must–see experience, but also one that encourages visitors to keep coming back.”
All of the interactive kiosks will be connected to a centralised content management platform based on Terabyte’s Dynamic
Web™ CMS engine but the system will also be configured to run independently of the network to provide failover
protection in the event of server or network failure.
