Draft Internet Code of Practice released – InternetNZ
InternetNZ today released a draft Internet Code of Practice for public consultation. The draft Code has been developed
after feedback was sought from the industry on an earlier working paper, canvassing the issues to be covered by a Code
of Practice and the proposed approach.
“I am very pleased the draft Code is now ready to be released,” said Keith Davidson, President of InternetNZ. “It has
been a longstanding goal for us to develop a Code that provides for effective industry self-regulation, in line with our
objective of supporting an open and uncapturable Internet in New Zealand.”
The draft Code outlines the obligations and best practice guidelines signatories agree to follow. It sets out the
structure which will govern the Code’s operation and the complaints process available to the public under the Code.
Submissions will be accepted on the draft Code until 5pm on Friday 29 April, and will be published on the InternetNZ
website at http://internetnz.net.nz/icop/. If potential signatories signal their interest, InternetNZ may convene
meetings in the major centres to examine the draft code and discuss any implementation issues.
Submissions are preferred by email to icop@internetnz.net.nz, but can also be made by fax or post (details on the
InternetNZ website).
