Symantec Releases New Version Of Network Intrusion Detection Software Solution
Symantec Network Security 4.0 Offers Comprehensive Intrusion Detection to Protect Against Network Threats
Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced the new version of its network intrusion detection software solution, Symantec Network Security 4.0, which provides multi-gigabit intrusion detection, scalable centralised management and advanced security intelligence to protect against threats and intrusions. ¡§Medium and large enterprises require sophisticated intrusion protection that can outpace new and emerging threats while protecting critical business assets,¡¨ said Richard Batchelar, country manager, Symantec New Zealand.

Symantec Network Security 4.0 software, along with Symantec Network Security 7100 Series appliances, are centrally managed through the Symantec Network Security Management Console.
The scalable security management console supports large, distributed enterprise deployments and provides comprehensive configuration and policy management of multiple devices, real-time threat analysis, enterprise reporting and flexible visualisation. The console is capable of managing both the software and appliances simultaneously.
To alleviate the burden of event management, Symantec Network Security 4.0 employs a state-of-the-art analysis and correlation engine to dramatically reduce the effort and time often required to identify threats by refining alerts down to relevant information, providing attack awareness without data overload. Symantec Network Security 4.0 also now provides a comprehensive policy management feature, which allows organisations to quickly and easily tailor protection based on specific business needs using one of the predefined detection policies or creating custom policies.
Customers have the ability to individually control logging and auto-response behaviour per threat based on threat category, severity, intent, confidence rating and profile of protected resources.
