A hay-maker of a High
Don't give up on summer just yet. MetService meteorologists are forecasting an extended period of dry weather for much
of the country with an anticyclone crossing central New Zealand this week.
"Holiday makers can say hi at last to summer with this high", commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt.
"Farmers will be able to catch up on their hay-making, as this settled spell arrives over the South Island on Monday and
the North Island on Tuesday."
The anticyclone may not be one hundred percent cloud free. There could be some coastal morning drizzle in the south and
isolated afternoon showers inland. The next frontal rain band is expected to start affecting southwest parts of the
South Island from Thursday, but may not reach the North Island until next Monday.
According to McDavitt the warmest part of this summer is still to come. "We usually get our warmest days between late
January and mid-February".
