just-concluded criminal trial on the remote British colony of Pitcairn Island, located in the Pacific halfway between
New Zealand and Chile. Additional video links for future trials are also a possibility.

distributor, Rocom Wireless, provided the court system with a reliable video conferencing link between the Pitcairn
Island proceedings and officials in New Zealand. The link was crucial, as Pitcairn, with a population of just 47 people
and located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, lacked the infrastructure and traditional connectivity for international
video conferencing communications. Additionally, a number of potential witnesses and associated parties to the trial
reside in New Zealand.
