Visa Targets NZ Youth With New Money Skills Website
Visa International has launched a new website, www.mymoneyskills.co.nz, to help educate New Zealand's young consumers
about the importance of managing money and using credit cards wisely.
Specially aimed at the 18 to 30 market, the site aims to connect with university students and young adults in the first
phase of their careers as they learn how to juggle spending, budgeting, saving and credit card usage.
Iain Jamieson, Visa's Country Manager for New Zealand, described the site as
a progressive and easily accessible tool for young adults looking for advice on how to handle money - and importantly,
debt.
He added: "In today's society, credit cards are increasingly the preferred and encouraged means of payment. They are a
financial reality and one that young consumers need to understand fully.
"We believe Visa has an important role to fulfil in educating consumers about responsible card use. My Money Skills
helps us reach a critical group with this message - young adults."
Visa is looking to support the valuable work already being undertaken in the field of budget advice by student
organisations and other consumer advice bureaux.
My Money Skills has sections on budgeting and saving, using credit cards wisely, smart shopping, card security, managing
debt and financial tools plus a set of quizzes to test financial know-how and reinforce money management tips. As well
as educating people about responsible use of credit cards, My Money Skills also gives consumers information about
building and maintaining long-term financial health.
