Hamilton City Council Votes For PeopleSoft
Hamilton City Council has selected PeopleSoft® Enterprise Financial Management to replace its existing PeopleSoft Financials Version 7.5 for Education and Government.
As part of the upgrade, Hamilton City Council will implement new versions of general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, inventory, project costing and fixed assets.
The council is currently in the scoping phase of the project which it hopes to complete before the end of the calendar year. Harin Perera, Business Analyst at Hamilton City Council, says the council considered financial solutions provided by Council’s existing software partners and the PeopleSoft solution was the best match for the council’s requirements. “We chose to continue our PeopleSoft investment for a number of reasons.
The extensive reporting and project costing capabilities were a priority for Hamilton City Council, as well as procurement and eprocurement.
“PeopleSoft has a strong user community in New Zealand and is a tried and trusted provider which is very important to us.”
The adaptability and flexibility of PeopleSoft’s technology were also key drivers of the decision to purchase PeopleSoft.
“PeopleSoft’s Pure Internet Architecture® gives us greater flexibility in functionality and demonstrates PeopleSoft’s commitment to ongoing development. Using Pure Internet Architecture we’ll be able to roll out the purchasing and requisitions modules to more users at the council because our users need only a web browser to use it.”
“Since there is no client software installation we anticipate increased system performance due to the low bandwidth required and reduced network traffic. It will also be easier to centralise our support management. Hamilton City Council is already a thin client environment so PeopleSoft’s Pure Internet Architecture is a good fit.”
David Webster, Managing Director, PeopleSoft Australia and New Zealand, says that Hamilton City Council has made a commitment to a PeopleSoft solution that fits the organisation today and can adapt with the council over time.
“Every organisation whether it’s a public or private enterprise demands flexible and adaptable solutions to assist in transforming the business. PeopleSoft’s best practice financial management solutions give valuable insight into the organisation providing real time reporting and streamlining business processes.”
