Siebel Systems and Teradata Announce Strategic Partnership for Analytic Applications and Enterprise Business Intelligence
Driven by customer demand, Siebel and Teradata announce immediate availability of integrated and optimised products
AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL), a leading provider of business applications software, and Teradata, a global leader in enterprise data warehousing and a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), announced a strategic partnership today. This new partnership promotes enterprise-wide analytics, enabling more users to get valuable business insights from greater amounts of detailed data.
Driven by customer needs, the focus of the comprehensive partnership is to provide enhanced integration and optimisation between the Siebel Analytics products and the Teradata® Warehouse. Teradata is now a strategic platform partner in the Siebel alliances program and Teradata Warehouse will become a supported database platform for Siebel Analytics.
“We have selected Siebel’s Analytic Applications and Teradata to support our next-generation approach to enterprise data warehousing and business intelligence,” said Robert Pacek, chief information officer of DIRECTV Operations LLC. “We’re pleased with the progress and collaboration we’ve seen from Siebel and Teradata and expect this integrated solution to provide significant benefits and competitive advantage to DIRECTV.”
Now available, the Siebel Enterprise Analytics Platform is optimised for high-performance native interaction with the Teradata Warehouse to enable customers to leverage the complete functionality and maximum performance provided by the Teradata data warehousing platform. For example, Siebel Analytics generates SQL specific to Teradata, and makes use of specialised analytic functionality offered by the Teradata database. This enhances Siebel’s existing support for Teradata, currently deployed in joint customer sites worldwide.
“Coupled with Teradata, Siebel Analytics’ unique capabilities have enabled us to provide actionable, timely information as we scaled to more than 4,500 employees using hundreds of analytic applications that help us to operate our business effectively,” said James Holder, director of engineering systems, Union Pacific Railroad. “It has been our experience that Siebel Analytics and Teradata provide unrivaled scalability and performance in a complex, multi-terabyte environment.”
With planned availability to initial customers in the second quarter and general availability targeted for the third quarter of 2004, all Siebel analytic applications will be optimised for the Teradata Warehouse. Also in the third quarter, Siebel and Teradata plan to make available an integration methodology between Teradata’s industry-specific logical data models and Siebel’s Analytic Application data models to minimise data redundancy and to speed implementation for joint customers. The Siebel Analytics product family includes more than 150 applications, in over 20 industries, providing actionable insight for all users, including executives, managers, partners and front-line employees.
“We have long relied on Siebel Analytics to provide users critical insights to business information in our Teradata enterprise data warehouse,” commented Mohammad Rifaie, vice president of Enterprise Information Solutions, Royal Bank of Canada. “With thousands of users getting actionable intelligence from more than 14 terabytes of data, the proven scalability and capabilities of Siebel Analytics and Teradata Warehouse have enabled us to operate one of the most analytically sophisticated environments in our industry. We look forward to the benefit of performance optimisation enabled by this partnership.”
According to Julian Beavis, Teradata vice president for India, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, “This is a partnership driven by the needs of customers. Siebel and Teradata customers were clear: they wanted us to make it easy for them to integrate and use our best-of-breed technologies. The combination of Siebel’s packaged analytic applications and the Teradata Warehouse provides decision-support capabilities for improved customer insight, operational efficiency and competitive advantage.”
“Teradata and Siebel share a vision that business intelligence and data warehousing solutions must provide just-in-time insight from vast quantities of detailed customer and enterprise data to drive fact-based actions and interactions,” said Larry Barbetta, group vice president and general manager, Siebel Analytics. “We are pleased that through our partnership with Teradata, together we are providing joint customers with the integrated and optimised products to realise this vision today.”
