Cheaper Broadband Has Landed

experience the benefits of broadband at much more affordable prices.
The new plans include a flat-rate plan for $69.95 a month and a new, low-priced entry level plan priced at $39.95 a
month for customers who have their calling with Telecom.
Chris Thompson, Telecom’s Head of Internet and Online Marketing, said that since the new JetStream plans were announced
last month, Telecom has fielded hundreds of calls from people interested in the new plans, many from people new to the
Internet.
“Never before have we seen this level of interest in broadband,” he said. >From the number of calls we’re getting, it
looks like these new Xtra JetStream plans are really going to accelerate broadband uptake in New Zealand.”
To make it even cheaper for customers, Telecom Xtra is offering new customers free JetStream connection until April 18th
providing they remain customers for at least six months, saving them $99.
“At just 40c more a day than a standard dial up connection, greater price certainty and reduced overage charging, it’s
more affordable than ever for New Zealanders to get online and experience the benefits of fast Internet,” Thompson
continued.
International trends show that when people get a broadband connection, they use the Internet far more than they would
with a dial-up connection, because the experience is so much better.”

tickets and the list of broadband applications is only going to grow,” he continued.
Over 90% of New Zealanders are able to access Telecom broadband using either DSL or Wireless technology, with coverage
increasing this year following the introduction of satellite technology in May.
“We’ve stated publicly that 2004 is the year of broadband. Our aim is to make the benefits of broadband far more
accessible to New Zealanders, and these new Xtra JetStream plans are another step in making this a reality,” Thompson
concluded.
Xtra’s existing JetStream customers will soon be sent an email to let them know about the new plans. They can choose to
stay on their existing JetStream plan, or they can change to one of the new Surf plans, simply by completing an online
form at xtra.co.nz/jetstream.
