AUCKLAND New Zealand - 18 February 2004 - Macromedia (Nasdaq: MACR) and Samsung Electronics, the largest electronics firm in Korea and the world's fourth largest consumer electronics manufacturer, announced a strategic partnership to embed Macromedia Flash on Samsung Electronics SMT-7000 series set top boxes. "Macromedia Flash is the leading technology for delivering engaging multimedia experiences across various platforms and devices," said Anup Murarka, senior director of mobile and devices, Macromedia. "Macromedia Flash brings a refined, effective user experience to our set top box platform," said Mr. Kim Young-Joon, senior marketing manager, Samsung Electronics. "By ensuring our customers can experience all of their favourite sites and applications with the same richness as their desktop computer, the Flash Player SDK also gives us the control to extend the set top platform user experience using Flash."

The Flash Player SDK, integrated into set top boxes, enables dynamic and rich user interfaces.
