Nominations Called for Technology Commendation Awards
Nominations are now being called for the prestigious Technology Commendation Awards sponsored by the Foundation for
Research, Science and Technology.
The Awards are designed to publicly recognise the contribution made by individuals and companies towards growing their
business and improving the New Zealand economy through the use of new technology - either designing it or applying it.
The winners receive a special trophy, a certificate, and are also entitled to use the special logo of excellence
associated with the Awards in any marketing or publicity campaign.
As well as recognising the efforts of individuals and their companies, the publicity generated by the Awards is designed
to encourage other companies to follow in their footsteps and for the general public to learn more about the success
stories of top New Zealand businesses. Past winners include Pulse Data, Formway, Argent Metals, Right Hemisphere,
PayGlobal and Magellan Technologies.
The Chief Executive of the Foundation, Gowan Pickering says his organisation recognises that technology plays a huge
part in growing the New Zealand economy by developing value added exports. He says there is clear evidence that
companies that invest in R reap the benefits of growth both in domestic and international markets. Gowan Pickering says that companies that have
won Technology Commendation Awards have successfully utilised this accolade to further promoter their businesses and
some have gone on to win Trade and Enterprise Export Awards.
The Technology Commendation Awards will be presented at the same function as Trade and Enterprise's Export Awards in
July. An independent panel of industry professionals judge the Technology Commendation Awards. The companies are judged
against a strict set of criteria which are set out in the nomination form which is available on the Foundation's web
site http://www.frst..govt.nz/ Nominations close on 2nd of April 2004.
