Higrowth Project A Winner Says ITI
The new industry owned and government backed HiGrowth Project is just the powerful stimulus New Zealand’s ICT industry
needs to realise its potential, says Chris Mitchell, Managing Director of ITI, provider of fast-track information
technology graduate training programmes.
Officially launched in November by the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, the HiGrowth Project is
being billed as a catalyst for quantum change in New Zealand’s
ICT Industry, with the aim of growing 100 companies to annual sales of $100 million.
“Accessing skilled and commercially savvy people will be critical if the 100100 companies are to achieve their goal,”
says Mr Mitchell. “ITI is offering those companies the opportunity to build their human capital by providing them with
skilled IT graduates at no cost for 18 weeks. We will also put their staff through our IT graduate diploma programme at
a discounted price. And we’re showing our commitment to the HiGrowth Project by signing on as one of the 100100
companies.”
HiGrowth Project Executive Director Catherine Calacro says the ITI programme fits in with the Project’s aim of ensuring
industry is working closer with education to provide an increase in a suitable ICT workforce. “We applaud what ITI is
offering and are ‘walking-the-talk’ ourselves by using an ITI intern, Rohini Dutt, for technical support,” she says.
“It’s fascinating and challenging project,” says Ms Dutt. “I’m getting access to all the growing ICT businesses, I get
to work on leading software programs and increase my knowledge about the ICT industry.”
