World-leading spam and virus service from TelstraClear
TelstraClear Internet customers will soon receive the world leading Brightmail spam and virus service.
From September 8, all Clear.net and Paradise.net customers will receive a free trial of the anti-spam and anti-virus service. The trial will last until the end of December.
Next year, customers on high usage plans such as Clear.net flat rate and Paradise.net 250 will continue to receive the service for free. Customers on $15 plans will then pay $2 per month with low usage plan customers paying $4 per month.
TelstraClear E-commerce Manager Mike Skinner says Brightmail is used by six of the top 10 United States ISPs, including AT, Hotmail and Bellsouth.
“Clear.net and Paradise.net customers are about to join more than 275 million email users worldwide who have more than 50 billion spam messages filtered every month by Brightmail,” says Mr Skinner.
“Unlike other spam services which simply block spam, the Brightmail service will sideline it into spam folders. Customers will then be able to review email classified as spam before it is deleted.”
Mr Skinner says the Brightmail service uses multiple methods of detection, with an industry-best effectiveness rate of more than 90%. In addition, it offers a ‘false-positive’ rate of one-in-one-million which ensures legitimate email is not incorrectly classified as spam.
“Brightmail has a team of people monitoring email traffic 24 hours a day, every day of the week. When a spam attack occurs, new filtering rules are developed then deployed to users - all within minutes of an outbreak,” he says.
“Customers will also receive Brightmail anti virus, which is powered by Symantec – so they’ll get market leading protection against email transmitted viruses,” he says.
Clear.net and Paradise.net customers will be the first in the southern hemisphere to receive such a sophisticated level of protection.
