New Deal Grows Compac's U.S Tomato Market
Compac Sorting Equipment is adding to its strength in the US tomato market with a deal just signed with DiMare Produce for two tomato packing units,to be installed at packhouses in Chicago and Pennsylvania.
Compac's technology is regarded as pre-eminent in the competitive US tomato market, which has snapped up 16 Compac machines in the past two years.
Compac's marketing manager, James Flocchini, says this validates the company's strategy of targeting a specific niche and developing highly sophisticated machinery and software to meet market needs. Compac also has a strong presence in the stonefruit, citrus and apple sorting and packing markets in the US.
"Our customers tell us that the most practical benefits for tomato packing are in our damage-free handling, even when sorting at speed, and exceptional weight and colour sorting accuracy - we are able to sort tomatoes into 16 user-defined colours.
"We've also looked at what packhouses need in terms of size, and our SLS and DLS models' compactness are a huge bonus where packhouse space is limited. With a shorter overall length, it uses its unique 'double side tipping' capability to allow simultaneous packing on both sides with no cross conveyors required."
Compac has built its business on an integrated software, electronic and mechanical R programme, which led to its ground-breaking technology that provides substantial benefits to fruit packers and re-packers.
