Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor With Hyper-Threading Technology Introduced At 3.2 GHz
Hyper-Threading Technology Available Across Pentium 4 Processor Product Line
Intel Corporation today introduced a new version of the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading (HT)
Technology** at 3.2 GHz. Pentium 4 processor-based PCs and Intel® Xeon™-based servers with HT technology are now
available across a range of mainstream and performance system price points.
Consumers using computers powered by Intel’s newest processor will be able to more quickly edit their digital music,
photos and movies, often doing two of these activities simultaneously without sacrificing performance. Businesses using
high-performance PCs based on this processor can help maximise employee productivity in multitasking environments and
when conducting processor-intensive tasks such as video production, financial analysis, and engineering design.
“Our latest Pentium 4 Processors with HT Technology can handle the most demanding computer user’s day,” said Phillip
Dows, Marketing Manager, Intel Australia & New Zealand. “These individuals can start their day with a multitasking work environment, move on to encoding home
movies to DVD while playing music files, and end their day with the latest multiplayer Internet games.”
With a 512K Level 2 cache, a choice of 400, 533 and 800 MHz system bus speeds, and manufactured on Intel’s leading
0.13-micron process technology, the Intel Pentium 4 processor is the leading microprocessor for consumers and business
users worldwide.
Performance for the Digital Lifestyle With high-performance PCs, consumers can dramatically reduce the time it takes to
encode digital media such as music, pictures, and movies. A computer based on the Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology
operating at 3.2 GHz can convert one minute of digital video to MPEG 4 while encoding about twenty-six minutes worth of
music to mp3 format over four times faster than a PC based on an Intel Pentium III processor at 1 GHz - the top-speed
processor just three years ago***. In addition, consumers can edit photos nearly three times faster with a PC based on
the Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology at 3.2 GHz versus a 1 GHz Pentium III processor-based PC***.
Benefits for Business High-performance PCs based on the Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology at 3.2 GHz enable greater
user satisfaction with quicker response time and improved productivity in multitasking business environments. In
industry standard benchmarks such as SYSmark* 2002, PCs based on the Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology at 3.2 GHz
deliver more than three times faster performance than the current installed base of 1 GHz PCs***. With content creation
applications such as Adobe AfterEffects* and Discreet 3d StudioMax*, computers based on the Pentium 4 Processor with HT
Technology at 3.2 GHz provide over 3.4 times faster performance than the installed base of 1 GHz PCs***.
