Trans-Tasman PeopleSoft Goes Live at Vodafone
PeopleSoft 8.3 HRMS Integrates Functions and Data in Two Countries
Vodafone New Zealand and Australia have completed the first stage of a groundbreaking trans-Tasman project with the go-live of PeopleSoft 8.3 HRMS in both countries. In a first for Vodafone, the two companies have integrated data and operations for both countries on a single PeopleSoft application.
More than 3,000 employees now have on-line access to their personal employment data using PeopleSoft HRMS. Go-live at Vodafone New Zealand and Australia completes stage one of the regional business project.
The strategic goal of the implementation was to streamline and standardise Human Resources administration and reporting functions in accordance with global business strategies and in alignment with Vodafone’s global value “Passion for our People”.
Yaman Noack, HR Services Manager at Vodafone, says that the implementation team kept customisation to a minimum in order to establish PeopleSoft vanilla “best practice” business processes.
“The self-service components are a key part of the system. Employees have online access to their personal and employment data and can apply for internal vacancies and training courses using the software. Meanwhile managers have access to their direct reports’ data including headcount and turnover, organisation charts and employee salary history,” says Noack.
Since Australia’s upgrade from PeopleSoft HRMS 7.5 and New Zealand’s migration from a predominantly manual system Vodafone has dramatically increased the HR functionality in both countries. Many other functions have also been streamlined including occupational safety and health administration management. All of which gives HR staff the ability to focus on strategic business activities.
Jan Mottram, Vodafone New Zealand Human Resources Director, says that Vodafone believes its people are its competitive advantage and the key to delivering service excellence to customers.
“The accurate and timely reporting assists us in strategic decision making. We can accurately track compensation and benefits to ensure market competitive packages and consistent application of the compensation framework across all employees. The salary review process has also been streamlined, giving us easy access to information and allowing timeliness of processing.”
David Webster, PeopleSoft Managing Director Australia and New Zealand, commented, “PeopleSoft is focussed on connecting people to business processes, creating the real-time enterprise. Vodafone now has seamless and immediate interaction between Human Resources and the rest of the organisation which enhances decision-making and gives all employees enhanced visibility and autonomy.”
The next stage of the project is to implement PeopleSoft Global Payroll across both businesses. The system will be fully integrated with Human Resources and interfaced into the company’s existing financial applications, providing seamless data integration.
