+ Canterbury Software Inc is keen to promote the Friday Tech BBQ as a meeting point for the Christchurch tech community.
If it's been a while since you last checked out the BBQ scene, now could be the time. If you know of anyone who might be
interested in coming along, especially those new to the sector or new to Christchurch, forward this to them. The BBQ is
an informal social and networking event that takes place every Friday, 5.30pm to around 7.30pm. It gives members of the
tech community a chance to meet other similar people in a relaxed environment, talk shop, network and get to know each

BUGBEAR'S BACK: The BugBear.B worm, a descendant of the original BugBear which struck last year, is causing havoc
worldwide. The worm can spread using network shares, directly over networks, or through email using its own email
engine. The worm emails itself to addresses found on the local system (in files and email messages) and is believed to
specifically focus on computers linked to certain Internet domains owned by banks and financial houses. Hard drives that
are shared with an infected system are also in danger from the virus, which will append itself to more than 30 different
programs and execute when those applications are run. The virus will open a "back door" on the PC, leaving Port 1080
open to intruders from the internet. Its nasties include a mass-mailer, network share propagator, keylogger, remote

PATCHING OVER CRACKS: Microsoft has released a patch that fixes two newly discovered critical vulnerabilities in
Internet Explorer, each of which could allow an attacker to take control of a victim's system. The cumulative patch,
released in Microsoft Bulletin MS03-020, contains all previous patches for IE versions 5.01, 5.5, and 6.0. - Information

E-BUSINESS WITHIN NZ: E-Business uptake within New Zealand has been relatively slow compared to the uptake in some of
New Zealand’s major trading partners, including the US, Uk and Australia. The main factors have been the perceived high
