New software package streamlines international education management
A sophisticated yet easy to use locally-developed software package is revolutionising the management of international English language education in this country.
Designed for state schools and international education providers, SecurED is the most comprehensive educational software system available. It allows education managers to manage students, agents and homestays from one centralised point. The developers say the simplicity of the system frees up staff, helps reduce overheads and meets NZIS, MOE and NZQA compliance requirements.
It can customise student timetables, track attendance and produce reports to support NZIS and MOE applications.
SecurED was designed and developed by BBtech Ltd in Christchurch in collaboration with members of the education sector and groups associated with the pastoral care of international students. Over the last two years the company has been developing leading edge software for organisations to better manage their international transactions and business operations.
Authorised reseller of SecurED and a specialist trainer for the product is the Christchurch international education specialist and 'edubusiness', Synergy Education. Director David Shearer says since SecurED's November release, 25% of Christchurch's private English language schools have adopted it.
"One school principal assessed it as having the value of at least one fulltime staff member salary. Some schools have redeployed critical staff to other areas due to savings from SecurED."
"SecurED is feature-rich to make schools more productive," Mr Shearer says.
"It has user friendly help menus, and questions and answers on every page. Users can enter and quickly receive up-to-the minute data and reports on students, agents and homestays, and other information necessary for auditing or to make operational and strategic decisions."
The ability to create customised reports, checklists, downloads, classes and timetables specific to international education requirements is a feature of the system. Users can produce income reports for auditing and offer parents or agents the opportunity to view students' marks, attendance and conduct, access information about homestays, receive invoices and pay bills online.
SecurED users can interact in real time and utilise e-mail invoicing software to invoice agents, parents or students in all major currencies. BBtech Ltd has an alliance with Travelex Global Payment to handle all foreign currency transactions for SecurED users at negotiated rates. The system connects to Travelex's currency converter. SecurED makes arranging and receiving international payments secure and simple.
As its name suggests, the product is very secure. The database is protected by two firewalls, 128-bit encryption, nightly backups, and high security logins and administrator access.
"SecurED is designed so users can securely manage their students, agents and homestays from anywhere in the world. As long as they have an internet connection of any speed, they have 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week access to their data," says Mr Shearer.
"This product will save educators money, and generate more income for them. It's an extremely efficient and secure solution to streamline the management of international education"
