PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal 8.8 to Deliver Integrated Real-Time Collaboration
New Features Drive Efficiencies Beyond the Enterprise
PeopleSoft has announced its new portal solution, Enterprise Portal 8.8. The solution empowers business users to accelerate business processes and companies to reduce IT costs using powerful new features including Resource Finder, user-driven site management and integrated instant messaging from IBM, Microsoft and Yahoo!. “Reducing costs and increasing operational efficiency, or how people go about their every day tasks is a priority in today’s market,” said Ray Kloss, Director Product Marketing and Industry Solutions, PeopleSoft. “With Enterprise Portal 8.8 business processes are more accessible and easier to manage, and organisations can instantly connect with people inside and outside of the organisation.” The new features provide benefits such as: Wizard-driven site administration enables business users to create and deploy tailored community specific sub-sites with little or no assistance from the IT department, reducing IT administration costs.
Resource Finder empowers users to immediately locate any resource needed to help execute a business process. For example, users can quickly find a customer who has purchased a particular product, a member of an organization who can answer a specific supplier request or the appropriate application to create an expense report.
Integrated instant messaging technologies allow users to detect whether their business partners are online, and immediately communicate with them in real time to expedite business transactions.
To date, more than 600 customers globally have licensed the Enterprise Portal, a key component of the PeopleSoft AppConnect suite. PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal 8.8 will be generally available in the U.S. on March 19 and internationally on May 28. Instant messaging capabilities from IBM and Yahoo! will be generally available worldwide in Q2. Instant messaging capabilities from Microsoft will be generally available in Q4.
