Seekom announces unique, real-time online accommodation reservation system
Everyone assumes real-time multi-property booking has been around, but Seekom has only now pioneered it
Wellington, February 18 (JY Media) Seekom, a company specializing in technology for the travel industry, today announced its proprietary technology
enabling real-time, multi-property booking, a concept realized for the first time.
To date, rival technologies for online booking have not been real-time, but probability-based. In other words, there
remains a chance that customers can still be advised that accommodation that they thought was booked might not be
available at all. Meanwhile, many directories still ask visitors to book at each property's web site, completing a form
to request a booking.
Seekom overcomes these uncertainties. Its ROBERT (Real-time Online Booking Engine for Recreation and Tourism) engine
allows web visitors booking accommodation to search on a range of criteria including location, accommodation type,
property facilities and only those properties with availability will be returned. Book a property with an "on-demand
status" and you can be confident of a confirmed booking.
‘People have assumed that this technology has been around for some time,' says Seekom director Simon Casey.
‘But this is the first time that someone has come up with a technology that actually delivers what customers expect:
properly confirmed bookings.'
Mr Casey expects holidaymakers will benefit from peace of mind, knowing that a booked property is just that. He has
noted that among the properties signed on to ROBERT already, younger customers have been quick to embrace the system.
Not only does the holidaymaker benefit—the property owner gains a free web page, may place ROBERT on their own web site
and gets a comprehensive booking calendar application with invoicing, extras' modules, and statistical reporting.
Seekom reports good early uptake from travel agents keen to reduce the time taken to locate available accommodation and
reduce the cost of phone calls. Over 100 properties—mostly B and a few serviced apartments and a major backpacker—have already registered throughout New Zealand, where the
America's Cup sailing regatta has just begun.
One of ROBERT's earliest public supporters has been Lucire publisher Jack Yan, who calls it, ‘The way everyone will be
booking accommodation by the turn of the decade.'
Seekom plans to add other accommodation types and is prepared to expand its reach beyond New Zealand.
