EMS-Global adds Sophos Anti-Virus Protection to EMS Cortex platform
OEM agreement signals strategic partnership with global developer of corporate anti-virus software
EMS-Global Ltd, New Zealand's leading provider of secure Internet connectivity services, today announced the signing of an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) agreement with Sophos, a world leader in anti-virus protection for business. Under the terms of the agreement, Sophos Anti-Virus will now feature as an imbedded element of EMS-Global's highly successful flagship product, EMS Cortex.
EMS Cortex ensures a secure Internet Protocol (IP) communication platform, allowing service providers, such as telcos, to give customers safe and secure access to a range of value added network services, monitored and managed around the clock.
As the core component of 'Safecom', EMS Cortex is the technology chosen by Telecom New Zealand to underpin the security of its data services delivery to major corporate customers in New Zealand. EMS Cortex is available in Australia through 'SecurePoint', a managed services offering from AAPT, while British Telecom has introduced EMS Cortex to the United Kingdom market under the 'Ultimus' brand of security offerings. In addition, EMS Cortex is available through the Managed Service Provider (MSP) model in Australia, Asia and Europe.
"EMS Cortex offers a solution that incorporates many of the world's best security features, offering protection 24/7," said Wayne Rowe, General Manager, New Zealand, for EMS-Global. "Sophos adds an important layer of anti-virus scanning to the EMS Cortex framework, providing heightened protection against virus attacks and greater confidence to businesses."
Telecom New Zealand welcomes addition of Sophos to EMS Cortex
In welcoming the addition of Sophos Anti-Virus Protection to the EMS Cortex platform, Chris Quin, General Manager of Telecom Advanced Solutions said that EMS Cortex, the core technology within Telecom's 'Safecom' brand, has achieved considerable success within the corporate market. "EMS Cortex is an essential component of 'Safecom' which delivers security and integrity to our major customers," he said. "State-of-the-art virus protection is a key component to that offering, and we are pleased that EMS-Global has selected a world-leading solution in corporate anti-virus protection to further enhance the EMS Cortex platform."
Sophos enters strategic alliance with EMS-Global
According to Sophos's Stuart Palmer, Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, the agreement with EMS-Global represents a strategic alliance for Sophos, underscoring the company's commitment to boost sales through imbedded or bundled solutions. "EMS Cortex is a great platform for service providers and, with the inclusion of Sophos Anti-Virus, offers businesses very high security," he said.
"We recognise the regional strengths of the EMS-Global offering in New Zealand and Australia through its partnerships with Telecom New Zealand and AAPT, and we are delighted that EMS-Global has selected Sophos to be its strategic partner."
