Intrahealth Nets $100,000 Business Growth Award

AUCKLAND, New Zealand Sept 23, 2002 -- Industry New Zealand has awarded leading health software provider Intrahealth with its top grant for business growth.
Auckland-based Intrahealth is receiving $100,000 to help fast-track the global export of its innovative health systems and clinical management solutions. The contestable grant is awarded to medium-sized companies that have a sound track record, demonstrate high growth potential and deliver competitive products for the global marketplace.
"Intrahealth's entrepreneurial management team has demonstrated the company's potential to take their business globally," says Industry NZ business development advisor Julian Kroll, who managed the grant application process for Intrahealth.
One of Intrahealth's products earmarked for growth in New Zealand and overseas markets is Insync, the heart of Intrahealth's suite of clinical solutions that integrates clinical, patient and administrative information across a network of healthcare providers, including independent general practices, hospitals and other community health services.
The solution is currently being piloted by the Rotorua General Practice Group, one of New Zealand's more innovative Independent Practitioner Associations with 40 general practices, and will be officially launched at the annual conference of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners 26-28 September, also in Rotorua.
This is the second time that Intrahealth has been recognised by Industry New Zealand. In July Intrahealth was officially selected to join Industry New Zealand's Fast Forward programme, an initiative outlined in the Ministry of Economic Development's "Economic Innovation Package," announced in Budget 2002.
"Industry NZ has recognised the tremendous innovation of the country's health technology sector and its potential to grow New Zealand's information communication technology (ICT) exports," says Miguel Hamber, Industry NZ's business development advisor for health IT companies. "This fits exactly with the government's strategy to promote an innovative New Zealand and we are very keen to assist in this growth."
Intrahealth CEO Dr Mark Matthews says that the company's growth over the past year has been phenomenal. "There is no doubt that we are growing fast," says Dr Matthews, "and that we are seeing a significant interest in our products overseas."
"We are very grateful to Industry New Zealand for the recognition and award. Their financial support will enable us to fast forward our business growth model and keep delivering a high standard of innovative health sector solutions."
