Oracle9i Database Release 2 Sets New World-Record For Large-Scale Data Warehousing Implementations
Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ:ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, has announced a new world record --
breaking performance and price performance in data warehousing. Oracle set the record in the TPC-H three-terabyte
benchmark category for its Oracle9i Database Release 2 running on a 72-processor 1050 MHz Sun Fire 15K server and Sun
StorEdge arrays.
Delivering higher performance with 44 percent fewer processors than the best IBM DB2 result on HP, this new world record
could offer customers a better price at 26 percent less cost per QphH@3000GB. Oracle9i on Sun also outperforms NCR
Teradata's best three-terabyte result by 27 percent using 44 percent fewer processors and costs 78 percent less per
QphH@3000GB.
Building on a long history of performance world records, this new result demonstrates the speed and processing power of
Oracle's award-winning database and demonstrates why more customers continue to choose Oracle's database server to run
their large-scale data warehousing implementations. Not only does Oracle9i Database Release 2 deliver better performance
than its competitors, it also delivers superior price performance.
