Oracle's New Year kicks off with new Country Manager
New Zealand, June 25, 2002 -- Oracle New Zealand, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that Robert Gosling has been appointed country manager of Oracle New Zealand. The appointment is effective July 2002.
Mr Gosling has been with Oracle New Zealand for more than 12 years and a member of the senior management team for the past five years. He has filled a variety of executive management roles within the company, most recently as national sales director, a position he was appointed to in 1999.
Mr Gosling succeeds Leigh Warren as country manager, with whom he has worked closely over the past year to develop a new business model that is both responsive to the local needs of New Zealand businesses, and aligned with the strategic direction of the company's Asia Pacific division.
"There is no question that nobody knows more about Oracle and the New Zealand market than Robert," says Mr Warren, who will be taking a new management position with Oracle overseas. "His insight into the New Zealand business and government sectors has been instrumental in helping us lead the company to where it is today."
Derek Williams, executive vice president of Oracle's Asia Pacific Division, agrees.
"Robert's solid working knowledge of Oracle, combined with an impressive background in sales, technology and management, makes him the ideal replacement. The model he has developed for the New Zealand market is proof of this."
Oracle Corporation released its Q4 earnings announcement last week. The New Zealand subsidiary has exceeded all performance expectations and has made a significant contribution to Oracle's performance in the Asia Pacific region.
Leigh Warren was appointed country manager two years ago, moving his family to New Zealand from South Africa, where he was country manager of Oracle South Africa. Mr Warren will remain as a director on Oracle New Zealand's board.
"It has been an outstanding two years of growth with Oracle New Zealand. The market has also changed significantly during this time and it's been really exciting to be a part of it." He says that he leaves the position with elements of both regret and enthusiasm.
"With a young family the time is right for us to experience new personal and professional challenges."
Mr Gosling says that his key role will be to ensure that the business model he developed with Mr Warren and the Asia Pacific management group is optimised. He says that Oracle's customers and partners will continue to be a key focus of this model moving forward.
