The United States' fight against terrorism involves looking for high-tech solutions to combat terrorism and the US
Government (Under Secretary of Defence for Acquisition Technology and Logistics) has issued an open tender to technology
companies around the world, for solutions.
Matt Adams, software patent specialist at A J Park, says the firm is alerting its innovative clients and all companies
they know of in the high-tech area, that the Under Secretary of Defence has a request out for proposals for technology
developments, with a deadline of 23 December 2001.
The sort of things that the US government is looking to combat terrorism includes:
· Automated speaker recognition systems
· Computer and information operations
· Tagging, tracking, locating and remote sensors
· Locating faces in video images
· Identifying faces in video images
· Video human tracking
· Voice print identification
· Terrorist behaviour and actions predictions technology
Matt Adams says they are also looking for a huge range of high-tech solutions to assist in 'protracted operations in
remote locations' and 'countermeasures to weapons of mass destruction.'
Matt Adams says any New Zealand companies that are developing solutions in these sorts of high-tech areas, should be
looking hard at the opportunities presented in this 'Request for Proposals' document. He says a copy of the relevant
document can be downloaded from the US government website and is available by contacting him at A J Park.
