COMPAQ PARTNERS WITH THE HYPERFACTORY AND WAIKATO INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TO PILOT LAUNCH EXAMTXT
AUCKLAND, November 26, 2001 - Compaq Computer New Zealand is pleased to announce their partnership with The Hyperfactory and the Launch Pad team at Vodafone to enable Students at Waikato Institute of Technology to access their exam results via SMS messaging.
The EXAMTXT service, a patent pending application developed by The Hyperfactory, is a New Zealand first and will be piloted following the summer school exams at Waikato Institute of Technology. To use the service students will text the service giving both their course code and the student ID. The exam results will then be sent back to them.
Ken Erskine, Director Corporate Communications and Education, Compaq said he was delighted to see SMS being used to provide exam results for the students at Waikato Institute of Technology. "It's a great practical application for this technology."
"We are very excited to be working with a progressive tertiary institute such as Waikato Institute of Technology and its' IT team headed by Glen Willoughby, and to be supported by partners like Compaq and Vodafone further enhances our commitment to delivering timely, relevant leading edge mobile applications" said Geoffrey Handley, Business Development Director, The Hyperfactory.
The Hyperfactory develops innovative wireless solutions for SMS and WAP technologies. It is focused on developing unique services for the global internet and mobile internet market and with assistance from KiwiStartUp.net, will implement several leading edge mobile-internet solutions to the New Zealand market shortly.
