ASIAN IT INDUSTRY LEADER PURSUES NZ CONTRACTS
Information Technology systems, products and processes required by New Zealand companies and government departments have
attracted interest from Asia’s largest software and services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS in short).
TATA’s Regional Manager for New Zealand, Sunit Sengupta, said today that increasing co-operation between New Zealand and
India in the development of information communication systems had encouraged his company to build up its presence in the
market.
“The recent discussions held on IT by the New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs in India and the planned visit this
week of the Indian IT Minister to Wellington demonstrates top level commitment to increasing business between the two
countries.”
Sunit Sengupta said that as a global company with more than 15,000 professionals operating across 50 countries, TATA was
well positioned to make strategic alliances with New Zealand companies looking to expand their business interests in
India and internationally.
“Our domain expertise in BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance), telecom, manufacturing and process
industries, retail, transportation, healthcare, utilities and extensive experience in end-to-end solutions and products
around the world will add further depth to the range of international firms represented in the market here.”
He said TATA pioneered the concept of Global Delivery Centres. These involved the establishment of IT business centres
in overseas markets blending local expertise with Indian specialists to service both domestic and international
contracts.
“We see Wellington as a potential site for such a centre. The New Zealand government is committed to e-business
development and Wellington is an attractive site for growing information industry companies.
“We believe that as India’s premier software exporter, with revenues consistently doubling every two years, we can
contribute to IT business growth in New Zealand with accompanying new jobs and export success.” – ends
